Letter-December 13th, 2015

I hope you are all enjoying this Christmas season. Yesterday we got to watch the First Presidency Christmas devotional. It was amazing. Something that I loved from it was the spirit that it brought to my life. I realize this year the spirit of the "holidays" is missing for me. But the spirit of "Christmas" is the same know matter where you are in the world, because it's the of the Savoir. I am truly grateful for the opportunity this year to take a break from the Christmas I am used to, to be the servant of the very person we celebrate this time of year. I hope you all get a change to watch this devotional.

This week was good. Sister Averion and I had to do to the dr. a few times this week. We are trying to figure out what is wrong with her back. We found out and thankfully she will be ok. She just needs to do some physical therapy. Good thing I know all about that :) I have been trying to do my best with a companion down. I did work with a member one day. It was a little challenging because it was 100% hiligaynon and I'm still not that good. But I had heavenly help for sure. By the end of the week sister was ready to try and work again. I was really happy. Things are going good here in our area. We have some new progressing investigators which is great. Later today we have a mission wide Christmas party, tonight and tomorrow! I am so excited! It should be fun.

Letter- December 6th, 2015

Hello everyone,

This week was good. It was a little bit crazy schedule. Because my companion wasn't aloud to work, she had back problems, she was under house watch. So I worked with the other 2 sisters. We would work in both areas and switch companions throughout the day. I was the one that working the whole time so that our area could be worked in too.  The good thing is, is that Sister Averion is now felling better. I am ready to go back and work in just my area. Also since the other sisters in the house were celebrating their year mark in the mission we celebrated our one month as companions. Time really does go by fast in the mission. 

I was reading the other day a talk by President Uchtdorf. " The infinite power of hope."  It's such a good talk. One thing that I really loved was this. " Hope is one of a three legged stool, together with faith and charity. These three stabilize our lives regardless of the rough or uneven surfaces we might encounter at that time." So as we have hope faith and charity we can have happiness in our lives. I know that to be true. I am striving everyday to develop these Christlike attributes. The talk goes on to talk about the things we hope in lead to faith, and the things we hope for lead to charity. I know that as we hope and have faith and then act on that in charity that our lives can be blessed. I know that though the atonement of Jesus Christ we can always have hope in our lives no matter what. I know that he is our savior and without him I would not be who I am today. I am grateful for the opportunity to share his gospel with the people in the Philippines. The church is true!

Letter-November 29th, 2015

I really cannot believe its December tomorrow. It doesn't feel like it at all. This week was really good. I made thanksgiving for the Sisters and I. It was fun. We had roasted chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls, and brownies. Then the Elders brought us Pizza too. So it was a feast indeed. Then later that night the Sr. Couple invited us over to a members house for thanksgiving again. So I really lucked out. It was very nice that they invited me and included me. It made it a really fun day.

For sure the highlight of this week was Zone Conference. The training by the Ap's was awesome. I became more motivated to being a Preach My Gospel missionary. They really encouraged us to do practice teaching everyday and really study PMG. Also a big focus on the mission right now is finding families. Teaching them when everyone is there. It's for sure not the easiest thing to do. We have been struggling to find a full family that is prepared. But I know that there is one out there. We just need to keep looking. I was really motivated by their ideas. It was just a really good training. 

This week was good. On Friday we got at text from President saying he wanted to meet us in the office. We were like ok?? We got there and he had invited us and some other missionaries over to his house for a thanksgiving dinner. It was so nice! At first we were nervous. Like oh no what did we do. But it turned out to be a nice surprise. Also that night I got to go to my first Filipino wedding reception. It was really fun. I said well it's for sure a Mormon wedding because the Relief society is serving the food. I guess that's the same no matter where you live.

Letter-November 22nd, 2015

I hope you all have a good thanksgiving this week. It does not feel like it at all. The sun is still shinning and its still hot. And also there is not thanksgiving here. But we might make one, who knows.

This week was not very eventful. A few of the sisters in the apartment got sick. And then this weekend I got sick as well. So it was more of a down week. I hate not being able to work. I would rather be out there then stuck inside the hot apartment. Oh well sometimes getting sick happens. 

I was reading in D&C this week. Something that really stood out to me was the importance of the priesthood and why we have it again on the earth. There is a reason it is necessary for us to return to our Heavenly Father again. I am grateful that we have the priesthood power on the earth again and the fullness of the gospel. I am also grateful for a good Dad who sets the best example for me and my family. I am thankful for the temple too. I really miss not being able to go often. But when I come home it will be something I don't take for granted.
