Letter-June 13th, 2016

Well first of all sorry for not being able to email earlier, but I just got out of the Hospital again....

So I guess I will just have to tell the story of what happened this week. 

I started to feel pretty sick Sunday night and it didn't seem to want to go away. So Monday we had to leave pretty early in the morning to go to Iloilo city for p-day and zone conference. So it was supposed to be way fun, but I was just feeling pretty sick. I couldn't keep any food inside of me and was experiencing very bad stomach pains.Thankfully the Elders were able to give me a blessing that helped me sleep that night. Well it continued into Tuesday during the conference and Sister Aquino wanted me to spent that night in the mission home. Also there started to be blood joined with everything, so I had a feeling something was up. So Wednesday we were able to get back to our area in Roxas and the next day we had to go the doctor. She was able to run some tests and found out that I have Amoebiasas. So that just means I have a sickness from either the water here or the food. The doctor wanted me to get admitted that day, but I resisted because I didn't want to go back at all. But I realized on Friday that after 5 days of being nothing but sick and loosing all food inside of me, I was probably just going to make it worse. So Friday until now I have been in the hospital so that I could get on some meds and get some help. And now I am out, I am no longer sick, but I really have to be strict the last few months of my mission what I eat, because they can't really cure this here in the Philippines, so right now the Amoebas are sleeping. It will hopefully stay that way so I can finish without getting sick again. 

On a brighter note we had a baptism on Saturday. I was very happy that little Nicole was baptized. The sad thing was I was not able to attend because I was in the hospital. And even worse her mom couldn't attend because she was also confined. Thankfully the other members in Nicole's family were able to be there for her as well. I was thankful that the ward keeps giving us part member families who need to be completed. And the Abo-ol family has a big place in my heart. 

Well that was my week, pretty fun huh :) Good news is I am back out and ready to begin again. I love you all lots.

Letter-June 5th, 2016

Hello everyone. This week was really great. It seemed like we had lots to do.

Mon: P-day. we joined in a school clean up project with the ward during the morning because we didn't have an activity. 

Tues: Normal work day :) 

Wed: Exchanges with Sister Abrigo. She came and worked in our area. She is a new missionary. She has only been out 1 month. I was impressed with her confidence and teaching skills. It was nice to work with her and get to know her as well. 

Thurs: Prepared Nicole for her baptismal interview. 

Fri: We did service in the morning at the bishops house :) I really love their family. The kids joined us in the cleaning. They love when the missionaries come home. They just want to play with us and hang on us and just are too fun. I am sure that's how we were back when my Dad was the bishop. 

Sat: We got to join a donation the church gave to a school and we also helped paint the building. It was so fun. There were lots of us missionaries there and we had fun doing service other than cleaning hahaha. Also Nicole passed her baptismal interview :) Her mom was so happy, and so were we!

Sun: It was a wonderful Sabbath day. I really felt the spirit during the sacrament and testimony meeting.

Letter-May 29th, 2016

Hey everyone,

This week was great! Shout out to my Big Sis, her birthday is today. Also the rainy season is finally looking like it's coming in. Which means it will be hot and wet hahaha. But it should hopefully cool down a little. Anyway what happened this week:

Mon:Birthday party activity for one of the Elders in our zone. It was good. 

Tues: We spent time teaching our part member families and just working one building the truest with the members in our area. 

Wed: Normal work day 

Thus: traveled to Iloilo for MLC. It was such a long drive. We spent the day in the city and I was finally able to buy shoes! Now I have ones with no holes in the bottom. 

Fri: MLC part 2. We spent most of the time learning what things we can improve on and how we can prepare for the new mission president. President Aquino gave a great training on using preach my gospel to really understand out purpose as missionaries. 

Sat: back to work in our area. We are starting to teach a new family :) They have great potential but it won't be a fast thing. But I can see their progress. 

Sun: Church!! The whole Philippines is focusing on a area plan. The area presidency has 3 key word goals for the Philippines. Obey, Covenant and Establish. So we all set goals on how to do that in our own lives. It was a good training. 

We watched this video at MLC. It was great to remind us on when we need to work and serve. I am sure some of you have seen it before. But I would encourage you to watch it again and remember that service is the key to happiness.

Letter-May 22nd, 2016

Wow, I can't believe this is here. The time has sure flown by.It has been fun to be with my batch mate. We have reminiscing the MTC. GOOD TIMES. Anyway this week was good. So what happened this week:

Mon; For P-day we went to this Jesus hold up statue, the view was awesome. It was a fun day. 

Tues: We spent time working in a area called punta cogon. We had 6 less actives from there come to church last week :) So we decided to keep visiting them and thankfully so did the ward

Wed: Sick comp :( 

Thurs: normal work day 

Fri:It was a put your shoulder to the wheel day

Sat:We got to visit a few of your new investigators and were so excited because they started to read the Book of Mormon! 

Sun: Church! We also had a member Sister Olivare work with us for part of the day, it was awesome :) 

Well I guess the last 2/3 of my mission is beginning. I promise to finish strong and keep running until the end.I hope you are all doing well. Thanks for all the  prayers for my health. I am glad to be better. Love you all!

Letter-May 15th, 2016

I realize how that it has been a while since I have emailed. Some of you may have heard that I did get sick. So the last few weeks have been crazy. I got a new companion a few weeks ago. Her name is Sister Hussein. She is from Fiji and my batch mate from the MTC so it's so fun to be companions.

Ok so a the week I got my new comp I was feeling sick. I was having on and off fevers and super bad body aches. Then I started getting rashes. So I knew that something was wrong. Thankfully I know what the symptoms are for Dengue because I had almost all of them. So my companion and I had to go to MLC for a meeting and I was just looking like crap and not feeling good. Sister Aquino said as soon as I get back to the area to get checked out before other symptoms come. So I did got to the hospital and tested positive to dengue fever. So I got admitted and was in the hospital for 3 days. They had to monitor my blood platelet levels because that is the next stage of dengue. Thankfully I caught it early and got on taken care of before it got worse. I was really lucky with my case of dengue. I was very thankful to the Elders who gave me a blessing and for the really awesome doctor who when out of his way to monitor me because he knew I am far away from home and wanted to make sure I wasn't going to freak out. (little did he know I have spent plenty of time in the hospital) But I was very thankful to him. Everyone in the whole hospital knew of some white girl and black girl staying in the hospital. I had lot of missionary visitors. Anyway I was able to be discharged after 3 days and later that week I started back into work. The sickness and going to MLC made it so I was out of work for 10 days. MY companion and I were thankfully to be able to get back to work. 

Just so you all know I am now back to 100% and ready to go again. Also this last week I was able to skype my family for the last time! It was so great to see them and talk with them.

Letter-May 1st, 2016

Hey family. I just wanted you to all know that I am out of the hospital. I am now doing ok. I still feel a little funny, but i am happy to be out of there. I hope you weren't worried too much. But everything is ok right now. I had a great Dr. I have a follow up appointment and follow up blood test on Thursday. So things are looking great. I love you guys lots. I cannot wait until Skype. Just let me know when you all want to do that. Thank you for the prayers and everything, I know the Lord blesses the missionaries.

Letter-April 24th, 2016

Hello Family and Friends, I hope that you are all doing well. This week was good. It has amazed me all the things that I have learned throughout my mission and this week. So what happened this week?

Mon; P-day of course :)

Tues: We tracting like I have never experienced before. Literally the whole day. Thankfully one lady actually let us teach her. She has some great potential. I am hopefully that she can progress. 

Wed:We had exchanges. I worked with Sister Servesa for her last ever exchange. We worked in my old area. It was nice to see some of the members and old investigators. We also found 2 new investigators for their area. IT was a successful day! 

Thurs: I don't know why but I had a lot of worries when I woke up. I just felt like I had a heavy heart. So literally the whole morning I was praying for help to keep focused in the work and not to have worries. I just couldn't wait to go out and work. And by the end of the day I was smiling and laughing with just my spirit totally changed. To the point that I can't even remember why I was worried. It's 100% true that happiness is found in the service of others. It really was a wonderful thing to finally experience for myself. I just had a ah-ha moment. I LOVE being a missionary and getting to serve the Lord. 

Fri: We got to clean the chapel for our service project. 

Sat: We worked for most of the day. We had a missionary fireside where we joined with the youth and the YSA. They had us join in a scripture trivia game and then my companion and I showed a video about fellow-shipping. https://www.lds.org/media-library/video/2015-01-011-reach-out-with-love?lang=eng I am not sure if you have ever seen this. But it something I wish I would have watched in young women's. 

Sun: Church :) Also before church we worked and got to teach 2 families :)
